Title: Modifying Controllers for Halo 3
Serenity - May 9, 2009 10:39 PM (GMT)
No I'm not talking about cheating such as making the controllers have rapid fire and all that, however I am talking about taking it apart and doing a few things to it that makes it better for halo 3.
I've never taken one apart but last night i decided to unscrew one of my wired controllers last night to see what is inside. To my surprise i found out that the circuit board can come out completely which means . . . . I can finally clean the entire outer shell of the controller in hot water =)
One of the things I really was happy about si that you can actually disconnect the rumble motors from the controllers . . .yup I took them out! I don't use rumble when playing halo 3 or most FPS games becasue it makes it harder to aim. Now my wired controllers are extremely light, about as light as a tv remote I'd say lol
With them being so light this will make a huge difference,. it means less strain on the hand and less weight to hold meaning movement with the analog sticks will be much easier.
It's pretty cool, I can take my wireless controllers that are different colors to and take those shells and stick them on my wired controllers if I want so i can have a different colored wire controller if I want. They only make white wired controllers but now I can have a black one if i want. I even hear there is a way to make the buttons light up, I don't know how but it sounds cool lol.
The BEST part about knowing how to take a wired 360 controller apart is by far being able to REPLACE the analog sticks afte they have gotten worn out. All I have to do is get new analog sticks and stick those on instead of having to buy a while new controller. This makes the longevity of controller usage much longer =)

some stuff can be only done with modified controllers tho.
be careful, cuz some of it is considered cheating and it is a bannable offense.
but you being good ol' Josh, I know your too good hearted to cheat.

lol i don't know how to actually 'mod' a controller lol
all i did was clean the outer cover and remove those heavy motor rumble things. It feels much lighter now and after playing a few matches i can see a big difference. Since the heavy weight is gone it's much easier to move and hold the analog sticks =)

it can happen when u dont even kno ur doing it.
one of my friends controllers broke. The spring in the trigger broke, and he fixed the spring with a spring from an old pull back car. and it glitches COD4. now when he uses a 50 cal sniper rifle, it unloads the whole clip in one shot, so basically he now has an automatic 50 cal sniper rifle. and he's been reported numerous times for it.

lol well i haven't broken any part of it, I just took the circuit board out, placed it to the side, washed the covers and unplugged the rumble motors and placed everything back in.
I think games like COD4 and halo 3 have a built in limit thing anyways to prevent ppl from cheating. I heard using modded controllers in MM is useless now . . .which is good =)
I just wanted a lighter controller, now i have a few =) It's awesome, it feels like I am holding nothing now lol

I did this with my PS3 controller, its a hassle to put it back together.

Maybe I'll open mine and add LED lights.
Serenity - May 13, 2009 05:01 AM (GMT)
man this has been awesome, the controller is so light now after an extended amount of playing my hands don't feel as sore since I'm not holding up a heavy controller anymore lol
ralphalf - May 13, 2009 05:04 AM (GMT)
Well that great indeed. Now you be pwning noobs with no problems.
Serenity - May 13, 2009 05:06 AM (GMT)
yeah the less weight actually makes it easier to aim since you don't have to apply as much pressure to move the analog stick lol
ralphalf - May 13, 2009 05:12 AM (GMT)
It would be cool if you can add an auto lock on to head with that controller.
Serenity - May 13, 2009 05:14 AM (GMT)
that would be cheating and would get your console banned lol
ralphalf - May 13, 2009 05:15 AM (GMT)
No that's not cheating...Its improvising. laugh2

trust me you'd get banned real fast, but there is no way to add it in the controller, that would have to be hacked into the 360. They call those aim bots . ..

So it's possible!! WOOT!! LOL How would they even know? How do they know you're not somebody super skilled at aiming.

I know b/c on the Bungie Halo 3 forums ppl talk about all the ways people could cheat or not cheat.
A lot of ppl there said they had modded controllers but they had no affect online so idk . ..
